You'd think I'd read more books at this rate... and yes, I did get all three of the comprehension questions right. However, I should include a disclaimer: it was mostly dialogue.
So, how fast do you read? Take the test below and feel free to post your scores in the comments!
Hi Kimberlee, I just love your blog and ejoyed this and your q post! I had to add you to my A.D.'s FAV 5 of the A to Z challenge today!

Have a wonderful weekend!
A.D.
I already know I read slower than most.
ReplyDeleteThat's fast! I am a very deliberate reader. Technically I can read fast, but I don't feel like I've actually read it until I capture every word. Sometimes I read the same page twice just because....
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading it.
ReplyDelete1,219. That might explain all the blog reading I get done on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI'm also floored by the 4,700 "World Speed Reading Record." That's insane!
Just as a goof, I did it again with the same piece I'd read and tried to click "Finished" just as soon as it would finish loading so I could see the results. In the time it took to load up and click the finish button, the result was over 11,000 wpm. But that's not what I wanted to see. I wanted to see the "You can read {book title} in {X} minutes." Apparently at 11K+wpm, you can read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 7 minutes, and Lord of the Rings in 41 (which is still 7 minutes per book (because despite popular belief, there were originally 6 books)).
ReplyDeleteI'm such a slow reader I'd be embarrassed to share my results.

Yeah, I read it fast but didn't really pay attention to anything I was reading. I'm such a cheater.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to take this test... but later... I'm in the middle of work and that'll take me all day.
ReplyDelete587 words a minute! Not too shabby :)
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a slow reader and am very intimidated by your score :)
ReplyDeletethat was loads of fun!!! 525 words per minute!!! woot! so this english teaching degree is really paying off! :D
ReplyDeletegoing to go show this to all my friends! thanks for sharing.
i love that test! 907 words per minute--but that means I didn't really get to remember any of the details. I retook the test and came out to 570, but got a perfect score:)

What a fun idea! I'm going to have to give that a try. I'm a slower reader now that I started writing, simply because I pay attention to how writers put their words together.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun test! I got 296, and all the answers correct. I like to take my time reading and enjoying every part of a story. I had to do enough 'fast' reading when I was in nursing school. Thanks for the challenge.

Just a FYI - I miss you! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool test! I was over 1000, which means I could read War & Peace in like 13 hours, supposedly. This does give me hope for some of the bigger reading projects on my agenda (Anna Karenina, anyone?). I used to do speed reading drills in high school, and I totally loved them.
ReplyDeleteHi! My mission...which I chose to accept...was to continue to visit as many A to Z Challenge participants as I could even after the challenge is over because I didn't want to miss out on any great bloggers out there! Lovely blog...good luck with the rest of the year and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
